Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program

The WIC program provides free food and nutrition education to low-income women who are pregnant, breastfeeding for up to 12 months after giving birth, non-breastfeeding for up to 6 months after giving birth, and children ages birth-5 years. WIC is particularly helpful if your child is prescribed a special formula or nutritional supplement. Vouchers for food purchases are distributed every two months at WIC offices.

Pennsylvania women who meet income guidelines and have a nutritional or medical problem are eligible. Children who have Medical Assistance automatically qualify for WIC, regardless of parent income.

Application must be completed and signed by a physician and updated periodically to re-qualify. Bring the completed form, recent pay stubs, and proof of Pennsylvania residency in person to your local WIC office.

For an application, call 800-942-9467 or 412-350-5801, or visit
